inlay onlay

WHAT IS INLAY ONLAY OVERLAY?

When the material loss in the tooth is excessive for various reasons, the biomimetic restorative process we apply to the chewing teeth in order to protect the remaining tooth tissue is called inlay or overlay, depending on the extent of the material loss in the tooth.

WHAT IS BIOMIMETIC RESTORATION?

The missing tooth tissue is closest to its original state; We call the procedures that restore the remaining tooth tissue in an aesthetic and functional way with minimal loss, biomimetic procedures.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED WHEN MAKING INLAYS, ONLAYS AND OVERLAYS?

Depending on the amount of remaining tooth tissue, the stresses that the teeth can absorb vary, and we want the materials used to be very close to the tooth tissue in terms of strength. For this reason, while we prefer glass ceramic restorations in teeth with a lot of material loss, we use composite materials when we restore more limited areas of the tooth, such as inlays.

WHAT ARE THE PROCESSING STEPS?

After the carious tissue in the tooth is cleaned and root canal treatment is performed if necessary, a cavity design is made in the remaining tissue with minimum abrasion, measurements are taken and a temporary filling is placed. In the second session, the suitability of the incoming porcelain or composite filling is checked for the tooth and it is chemically bonded to the tooth.

LONG-LASTING MANAGER, DOES IT CAUSE COLORATION?

When the right material is selected and the procedure steps are followed precisely, these are restorations that are exactly close to the tooth itself. It can be used for many years. Since the polish is done in the most optimum way, the possibility of coloration is very low.
